The Barcelona star scored his first goal early into the final against France at the Lusail Stadium in Doha.

Messi scored twice in Argentina’s Round of 16 match against Australia. The first goal came in the 35th minute as he converted a penalty to give the team an early lead. On the second goal, Messi scored again with a late header as Argentina defeated the Australians 2-1.
In their next round, Messi scored again as Argentina defeated the Netherlands 4-3. He converted a penalty late into extra time and then scored from the spot again in the shootout to give his side victory over their opponents.
Messi converted a penalty to open the scoring for Argentina against Croatia in the semi-finals at the World Cup. The side registered a convincing 3-0 win to secure a berth in the final.
